(The Texas Instruments TMDX5515EZDSP is a powerful yet easy to use development platform designed for embedded applications and digital signal processing. This evaluation board is based on TI\'s very successful and widely used TMS320C5515 DSP processor. The TMDX5515EZDSP board is equipped with an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) which facilitates the development of audio or video related applications. The integrated hardware is also capable of high-speed data transfer between processor bus and devices connected to the board, making it ideal for a wide-range of embedded digital signal processing applications.The TMDX5515EZDSP is not just an evaluation board, but rather an integrated development and debugging platform that is ideal for quickly prototyping new designs. It features an array of peripherals, including dual 240-pin connectors, SD card slot, USB port, Ethernet port, audio interface, and serial port. Furthermore, the included software package provides a comprehensive suite of tools for development and debugging.The TMDX5515EZDSP board is powered by a Texas Instruments TMS320C5515 DSP processor. This processor features a 320MHz C55x+ core based on the C55x+ architecture and includes an MMU and 1D/2D cache. This processor is extremely power-efficient and is capable of delivering up to 20MIPS/mW of performance. Moreover, the processor is designed to be compatible with both the popular C5000+ and C2000+ instruction sets. The TMDX5515EZDSP board also includes a variety of on-board peripherals which can be configured and used with relative ease. The included ADCs are capable of sampling analogue inputs up to a maximum of 16-bit as well as providing digital I/O. The ADCs can be connected to Antresol or Audison emulators as well as external sensors such as rain gauges and relevant systems. The integrated DACs are capable of providing audio outputs of up to 16-bit resolution.Debugging on the TMDX5515EZDSP is made simple and easy with the on-board USB emulator controller. This allows code debugging and program tracing on the board via the Code Composer Studio software. This software allows the user to control the operation of the board from a graphical user interface as well as providing all of the necessary development and debugging tools that are necessary for developing applications on the board.In addition to the development/debugging features, the TMDX5515EZDSP board is also capable of being used as a communication & monitoring system. The included Ethernet port allows for TCP/IP protocol based communication as well as for easy connection to a local area network. The serial port can be used to connect to other external systems such as modems and sensor systems. The included SD card slot is capable of providing up to 8GB of removable storage and can also be used for remote updating of the board. Overall, the Texas Instruments TMDX5515EZDSP evaluation board is a highly versatile and easy to use development system for embedded applications and digital signal processing. The integrated hardware and software package make these devices ideal for quickly building and prototyping a variety of applications.
