TOP223Y is a high performance off-lineswitcher IC specifically designed for high voltage switching power supply applications. It features advancedprotection features, soft start capability, overload protection, and overload surge protection, making itideal for use in printers,set-top boxes, data acquisition and point of sale (POS) equipment, monitors, and power supplies.

TOP223Y is based on the TRUYEN (true switch architecture), which is an innovative power supply designarchitecture. It allows for high efficiency and accuracy switching for both AC inputs and DC outputswhile minimizing power loss and boosting reliability. The TRUYEN design features dual-channeltransients, which prevents crossover distortion of the power supply phase and eliminates reversecurrents from the AC input. Additionally, the TRUYEN circuitry prevents over-current protection tripsduring the first stage of the power supply by filtering out any high-frequency switching noise producedby the rectifier circuit.

TOP223Y features high power efficiency, low power dissipation, and wide input voltage range. Theoutput voltage of the circuit can be adjusted over a wide range of voltage with a single-phase AC inputvoltage range of 80 VAC - 250 VAC. The current rating is 5A and the output wattage can be up to 600W.The device is equipped with thermal shutdown circuitry and current limiting circuitry, which helps totrips the converter in overload or short-circuit situations. Additionally, the device is provided with activeclamp reset, enabling it to continue operating after a short circuit or overload. It also includes anexternal shut-down control, which can be used to shut down the device remotely.

TOP223Y provides a soft start feature, which helps reduce inrush current and current peaks whenswitching from standby to operating mode. The amount of current flowing through the circuit can be limited using an adjustable currentsense threshold, which can be adjusted using an external resistor and capacitor.
