Power management integrated circuit (PMIC) functions to regulate the voltage supplied to electronic components and devices. Traditionally, the PMICs are known as “voltage regulators” since they regulate the voltage applied to the electronic components or devices. PMICs come in various types, such as AC/DC converters, offline switchers, and Digital-to-Analog (D/A) converters. These different types of PMICs all have their own advantages and disadvantages and it is important to choose the appropriate type for the application. TOP258YN is an example of AC/DC converters. TOP258YN is a simple voltage regulator for cost-sensitive applications. It is capable of delivering up to 10 Watt output power from an input voltage from 8V to 100V.
