TOP233YN is a high-speed Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit that integrates an auto-restart crowbar and a 3-level MOSFET with an integrated gate driver. It is designed for very fast current limit protection (<1us) and precise thermal protection. The operating temperature range is -20°C to +85°C.

The TOP233YN application field includes types of applications, such as dc/dc converters and offline switchers, which need PFCs, short-circuit protection, and have wide operating range. The TOP233YN device integrates several PFC circuits, such as an internal PFC inductor, PFC and current sense modelesses. It also features fast current limit protection and precise thermal protection.

Working Principle of TOP233YN

The TOP233YN device’s working principle is based on three levels of MOSFETs and integrated gate driver. The primary voltage is rectified and a current loop control is used to regulate the power factor of the power supply. The selected MOSFETs are used to reduce the power loss and provide better efficiency. An internal PFC inductor is used to reduce peak-to-peak current oscillation and reduce the power loss.
