Working Principle

The working principle of TOP242GN-TL power management integrated circuit (PMIC) is to regulate output voltage under varying load conditions. It does this using the input voltage, transformer ratio and the selected current peak value. This PMIC works as either an AC/DC converter or an offline switcher. In the former case, it uses an isolated flyback topology to provide high efficiency, low switching noise and wide input voltage range. It uses an external switch to enable and/or disable the device and an external diode to provide reversed-polarity protection. In the latter case, it uses an open-loop, single-stage current-mode or fixed-frequency power-factor-corrected flyback topology to regulate the output voltage.
