The TOP246R-TL has two distinct working principles, called the flyback and forward converter, which are employed to efficiently transfer power between the input and output of the device. This method provides high efficiency and is suitable for applications that require low input voltages and high load currents. In a forward converter, a DC-AC switching stage is used to convert input power directly to an AC output. This topology requires an inductor at the input to store and release energy when the power switches, and it is suitable for applications that require high efficiency and low output ripple. The TOP246R-TL incorporates both of these working principles.
