TVS - Diodes
The TPC27AHM3/86A is a three-terminal unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diode that provides secondary surge protection for Components and Systems.This advanced system is designed and developed to safeguard Components and Systems, particularly low voltage security systems, from powerful and damaging electrostatic discharges, electro shock, electrical surge and other transient over-voltage events.
Application Field
TPC27AHM3/86A can apply to AC line protection, Communication system protection, Automotive line protection, Military and aerospace system protection, Low voltage system protection, and so on. It can be both industrial and consumer applications.
Working Principle
In normal condition, the diode acts as an open circuit, no current flows through it. When a large voltage at the device pins is detected, the diode will be in a conducting state and a 60W surge limit will immediately hold its elements inside whether it is electrical surge, electro-shock or electrostatic discharge. It will continuously clamp the overvoltage till the peak passes and the device turns in nonconductive state automatically. It will repeat the process if triggered again by overvoltage conditions.
Typically, the device has 2pF +/- 5% capacitance at 80V. It achieves electro-static discharge (ESD) as per the IEC 61000-4-2 air discharge (level 4) coupled 8kV and liquid discharge (level 2) coupled 8kV together with SESD as per IEC 61643-11 4kV. It has a low leakage current and fast response time which enables it the capability of safely withstand 4kV peak pulse. In addition, the device has extremely low clamping voltage at 1.3V for typical 5A surge pulses.
