Working Principle

When the device is powered down, the FET is turned off and the system is disconnected from the supply voltage. The output voltage is the voltage given out to the system, which is regulated by a voltage reference and a comparator. The voltage reference is based on a programming resistor between the supply voltage and ground.

The TPS2350D includes an overvoltage protection (OVP) circuit. This circuit compares the input voltage to an adjustable voltage set by the voltage reference circuit. If the input voltage exceeds the set voltage, the OVP circuit will shut off the FET and disconnect the system from the supply voltage. This reduces the risk of permanent damage to system components.

The TPS2350D also provides a current limiting feature. This feature limits the current flowing into the system and can help protect against costly short circuit fault conditions.
