It has a -40°C to 125°C operating-temperature range; supports 50-ms power-on reset (POR) time and 10-ms reset (RST) time; and has an active low open-drain RST output.

This supervisor IC can be used in applications such as telecom power supplies, communications equipment, computing equipment, server equipment, and distributed power management systems. It is also suitable for systems requiring power-supply under-voltage (UV) monitoring and protection. The TPS3705-50DR also has power-supply monitoring ranges of 2.0V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 3.9V.

Working Principle

The TPS3705-50DR has an extremely low-current and power consumption design, providing an accurate and reliable system reset when it senses a power-supply fault. This supervisor reset feature is composed of two reset timers (POR and RST). The POR timer is used to provide a steady pulse output and is also an adjustable timer. In addition, the supervisor provides an independently adjustable RST timer for low power-supply monitoring, giving it higher accuracy than other supervisors.

The TPS3705-50DR includes a one-shot delay circuit. It has an adjustable range of 0.5 seconds to 41 minutes. This delay circuit is primarily used to provide adjustable output frequency and reset timing. With the TPS3705-50DR, if it senses a fault condition in the system, it will latch its output in the high state and reset all system functions. This reset will only be released after the fault has been cleared.
