PMIC - SupervisorsThe TPS3851H25SQDRBRQ1 is a high-performance, dual-channel reset supervisor. This reset supervisor has an adjustable minimum reset pulse width, RESET_PULSE_WIDTH, and an adjustable reset timeout, tRESET_timeout, as well as two low-skew reset outputs. Its primary use is to monitor one or two power domains and assert a reset output when predefined conditions are met. Application FieldThis reset supervisor is designed for monitoring power supply rails in mobile or portable electronics such as medical applications, printers, handheld and point-of-sale terminals, as well as many other embedded systems. It can also be used in servers, software-controlled industrial systems, office automation equipment, motor control and network-communication systems.Working PrincipleThe TPS3851H25SQDRBRQ1 reset supervisor monitors two primary inputs for power supply faults, the input voltage threshold and the cycle-by-cycle current limit. When the input voltage exceeds a predetermined threshold and/or the cycle-by-cycle current exceeds a predetermined limit, the reset supervisor asserts reset outputs EN1 and EN2.In addition, the reset supervisor circuitry includes two delayed reset/reset-timeout functions. The RESET_PULSE_WIDTH is determined by a fixed internal delay for each device. The RESET_timeout function is adjustable through external trimming and timed from the falling edge of the power-on reset (POR) voltage. This delay allows the reset outputs to remain asserted for a minimum of 600 mS after the power-on reset period.Moreover, a power fail (power-on reset) input is provided. A voltage applied to this input is interpreted as a power-on reset and the reset timers are reset. This input has weak pull-down current to achieve "no" connection protection.The TPS3851H25SQDRBRQ1 offers shutdown sequencing from all internal power sources during power-on reset, as well as three reset-polarity options. The active-low active-high reset timeout options, housed in a 3-pin SOT-23 package, provide flexibility for designers.
