TPS40003DGQR Application Field and Working Principle

The TPS40003DGQR fuel gauge is a complete resistive-sensing-based fuel gauge that combines linear current measurement with a sequential integration algorithm to provide accurate and precise measurements of battery capacity. This fuel gauge operates autonomously and provides a complete, low power, and self-calibrating fuel gauge solution. The TPS40003DGQR can measure most battery technologies and cell configurations, allowing flexibility in design.

The TPS40003DGQR is designed to be the primary measuring device in battery-powered applications. This fuel gauge can accurately monitor capacity in milliamp-hour (mAh), remaining time left in Hours, and capacity in percentage. The TPS40003DGQR is designed for use in mobile phone battery packs, PDAs, laptops, portable entertainment devices, digital cameras, and battery-powered medical, industrial, and automotive applications.

The TPS40003DGQR is built on Texas Instruments’ patented, low-power integrator-sensing technology. This technology enables the TPS40003DGQR to accurately sense and measure the discharge curve of a given battery in order to accurately calculate capacity.
