TPS5210DWR, an integrated monolithic DC-DC switching controller, has a wide range of applications and is an important member of the PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Controllers family.

By combining its wide input voltage operating range, high-performance control loop and fast transient response, TPS5210DWR enables low cost, noise immune, high-efficiency solutions for powering voltage regulators and dc-dc converters.

The device features aninternal high-side and low-side MOSFETs, protections of input under-voltage locks and output over-voltage protections, over-current protection, optional heating foldback protections, and a low quiescent-current power-save operation mode.

The typical application of TPS5210DWR is as a step-up converter driving a single-cell Li+ battery and low-dropout regulators. It supports a wide range of input voltages, enabling a single device to be used for multiple applications such as Li+ battery to 1.8V-3.3V and AC adapter to 1.5V-3.3V.

TPS5210DWR can be used to drive either a synchronous or asynchronous step-up DC-DC regulated output power supply with fast transient responses. Synchronous rectification can be used with control loop compensation to maintain high levels of efficiency, while asynchronous rectification can be used to maintain low levels of noise.
