TRF3761-HIRHAR is a monolithic integrated circuit intended for high performance frequency generation in a variety of applications. It is a highly integrated system-in-package (SiP) that combines a phase-locked-loop (PLL) and a low noise voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with digital control logic. The PLL and the VCO are powered by individual on-chip voltage regulators, and an external reference crystal provides the reference frequency for the VCO. The high performance clock generation and frequency synthesis is enabled by a fractional-N divider which allows for very large steps in frequency output from the VCO. The device supports multiple control protocols, including Analog Control, UART, I2C, and SPI. It also features an input clocks integrity check which is used to detect errors in the input signal, and the output power adjustment which can be configured by the on-chip digital logic. The PLL and VCO can be operated independently, or the PLL can be used to synchronize the VCO in order to achieve higher performance.The TRF3761-HIRHAR is designed to generate high frequency clock signals in a variety of applications. It is suitable for applications such as telecommunication, test & measurement, automotive, consumer electronics, and medical. The device provides an output frequency range of 4KHz to 1GHz, a maximum output power of -9dBm, and an adjustable duty cycle. Other features of the device include programmable power down, programmable pull-up/pull-down resistors, configurable clock output and monitoring, as well as a high performance VCO and PLL.The TRF3761-HIRHAR has two main operating modes; Frequency Synthesis Mode and Single Frequency Mode.In Frequency Synthesis Mode, the device uses the on-chip digital logic to generate complex clock signals with variable frequencies. This mode is useful in applications such as telecom and test & measurement, where creating clock signals of varying frequencies is essential.In Single Frequency Mode, the device provides a single output frequency. This mode is suitable for low power applications, such as consumer electronics, where a constant output frequency is required.The working principle of the TRF3761-HIRHAR is based on phase locked loop (PLL) and voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) technology. The input frequency is received by the PLL, which locks its output to the input frequency. The output frequency is then generated using a voltage controlled oscillator, which is controlled by the output of the PLL. The voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) can generate a frequency up to the maximum output frequency of 1 GHz.In order to achieve the desired output frequency, the frequency synthesizer uses a fractional-N divider to divide the output frequency of the VCO. This allows for much larger steps in frequency output, as compared to conventional dividers. The frequency synthesis of the TRF3761-HIRHAR is further enhanced by the ability to program the pull-up/pull-down resistors, adjust the output power, and monitor the clock integrity.The TRF3761-HIRHAR is a highly integrated system-in-package device with a range of applications.
