The TRF37T05EVM is developed as an evaluation board to test the TRF37T005 programmable RF IC, and its main application is to verify the performance of the RF devices. Technically, the TRF37T05EVM works on complete frequency converter, which includes both the up-conversion and down-conversion in frequency links. The up-conversion chains are the actual path for the RF signal when it is going from the lower frequency band to the higher frequency band, while down-conversion is the actual path for the signal when it goes from higher frequency band to lower frequency band. It generally implements four mixer stages along with two VGA stages for each direction. As a result, TRF37T05EVM is capable to process signals from both paths at the same time and engineers can get better control of the output performance.
And within the TRF37T05EVM programming feature, it supports the in-system programmable, done with the help of the I2C ports. This benefits the user to run through the programming without having any special interface to the microcontroller unit. Also TAIP-RL control interface is integrated with this system, enabling the user to access its SPI digital interface and control the rate of TX-RX signal. It also provides low power consumption and good noise control performance to maximize the relay of the performance.
TRF37T05EVM also works with the fractional-N PLL as well, which includes the fixed output frequency range of 6 GHz. The fractional-N PLL helps to reduce the SSB phase noise at the output signal, thus making sure that the transmitter works at a lower noise level than any other PLL approaches with similar bandwidth. This helps to reduce the bit-error rate and increases the fidelity of the transmit signal.
Besides, the Tunable Pre-Scalers helps to further reduce the jitter and SSB noise. The pre-scaler acts on the RF IC stages to separate the output frequencies and reduce the jitter in the stages. This helps to maintain the frequency accuracy even during different temperature ranges. Also, the flexibility of using the pre-scalers means that the device can be used in a variety of applications such as general-purpose experiments, testing, and development.
Finally, TRF37T05EVM is very cost-efficient and much compatible for its application. It supports both digital and analog programming and its easy-to-operate interface allows the user to just plug-in and get the result, which fully meet the expectations of the industry.
