The chipset board, a small form-factor 3” x 3” board, contains the TRF7960A IC as well as two other utility components, a battery voltage monitor circuit and a reset button.The TRF7960A IC is a low power, CMOS-based chip which is capable of providing high performance at a fraction of the power requirements of other solutions. This chip is powered by two separate power sources, one for the baseband and one for the RF functionality, which allows for total power optimization. It is designed to meet the demands of the latest RFID standards and protocols such as ISO 15693, ISO 18000-3, EPC Global Class-1 Gen2 and others.The main operation of TRF7960AEVM is that it acts as an RFID transponder, primarily receiving and transmitting low power radio signals. The RFID transponder consists of a transceiver and a storage unit. The transceiver is responsible for converting digital signals into radio waves. It uses the antenna layer to receive and transmit radio signals.
