The TSB43AB23PGE is a high-speed FireWire interface controller, developed by Texas Instruments and released in 2006. It features: 25 MHz transceiver, IEEE 1394-1995, IEEE 1394a-2000 and S1600/S3200 performance modes, as well as an integrated power/ground isolation architecture.

The TSB43AB23PGE performs as a dedicated host controller chip, increasing speed and reducing pin count of the FireWire interface. It is compatible with systems that are limited to a 33-MHz bus frequency, while at the same time providing some features at higher speeds. It supports the extended arbitration processing and remote-DMA transfer that allows for multiple simultaneous isochronous transfers.

The TSB43AB23PGE’s integrated memory and processor architecture consists of a 64-bit On-Chip Memory Controller and a 32-bit ARM processor core. The On-Chip Memory Controller supports up to 16 megabytes of off-chip memory, allowing it to handle large scale computations. The 32-bit ARM processor core is the main control logic of the chip and is used to process protocol layer software, such as device control and arbitration. The TSB43AB23PGE supports up to 32 nodes on a single bus and is designed for multi-point connections.

The TSB43AB23PGE supports 100 mV peak-to-peak voltage levels for high-speed signaling and data transmission. It is also compatible with a range of external FireWire transceivers, including the Texas Instruments PHY-Link™ TSB41AA4 integrated transceiver, for interfacing with power-sensitive and voltage-level applications. It is also compatible with external USB transceivers, including Texas Instruments USB540. This allows it to interface with USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 devices, offering seamless connections to storage devices, digital cameras, and other peripherals.
