Working Principle
The basic working principle of TV30C181J-G is the same as other TVS diodes. It works by clamping the voltage across it to a maximum level in order to provide protection to the circuitry connected to it. Whenever the input voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage of this component, the diode is triggered. This triggers a current flow which is limited by a well-defined avalanche energy, thus providing effective over-voltage protection.
It has an advantage over the regular diode-based methods, such as low leakage current and low forward voltage, since it is made of a zinc-oxide composite material.
