Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, commonly known as "electrolytics", are far and away the most widely used capacitors. They are robust, have very high capacitance values and are much cheaper than other types. The TVA1599 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor that is specifically designed for use in television and radio applications. It operates at a working voltage of 15V and is capable of providing a maximum capacitance of 99 Farads.
The TVA1599 is made up of two aluminum foils that are electrically isolated by a paper or polyester insulator between them. On the anode side, a sheet of aluminum oxide is grown, forming a thin insulating layer. The two metal plates, isolated by the oxide layer, form the capacitor core.
