Introduction The TWR-MPC5121-KIT is a full-featured evaluation board for embedded applications. The Freescale MPC5121e microcontroller incorporates a high-performance Power Architecture™ core with several specialized features. By using software-independent hardware accelerators, the MPC5121e provides both performance and power efficiency.At the heart of the TWR-MPC5121-KIT is the MPC5121e SoC, which combines high-performance computing with low-power operation. The Power Architecture core provides high-performance computing with the ability to process multiple instructions for every system clock cycle. The SoC includes multiple hardware accelerators that allow applications to be processed at higher throughput, while providing reduced power consumption.The on-board power supply includes two switching regulators, one for the main processor and one for the on-board debug and access processor. The regulators are connected to two Power Control ICs (PCI), which measure the current and voltage inputs to the microcontroller. The board includes several peripheral interfaces, including USB 2.0 On-The-Go, Wi-Fi, SD/SDHC memory cards, a dual CAN interface, and an Ethernet interface.The TWR-MPC5121-KIT also includes a variety of software and hardware debugging resources. A JTAG is used to power and debug the processor, while the on-board debug and access processor provides a real-time debug interface to the MPC5121e.
