Working Principle

The Twr1650-LINUX is composed of several interconnected components which includes the Freescale i.mx6 processor, Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC), Flash Memory (eMMC/SPI Flash) and DDR3 Memory. The processor consists of four ARM Cortex-A9 cores, which accesses the memory through two separate buses. The first bus is used for the onboard Flash Memory and the second bus is used for the external DDR3 Memory. Additionally, the processor supports two UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter), Ethernet, USB, SDIO, I2C, SPI and RS-232/RS-485 ports for connecting to external peripherals.

Furthermore, the board is integrated with several software components such as the NAND/SD Card Controllers, Serial, Ethernet and USB Device Controllers. Other components integrated into the board includes a PMIC, CPLD, System Manager Unit, and the Network Time Protocol (NTP) for keeping track of the clock information.

The TWR1650-LINUX board is completely self-contained system for designing and evaluating embedded applications.
