The UA78L05CDRE4 is a Low Dropout (LDO) 3-Terminal Positive Regulator designed to provide a regulated output using only a single external resistor to set the output voltage. The device is rated as 5V/100mA output, featuring a guaranteed maximum dropout voltage at 1.3V at 100mA load. Working Principle

The UA78L05CDRE4 is a 3-terminal device that utilizes an LM78-type regulator architecture. It has one input terminal, one output terminal and a ground terminal for current return. The device can be used in fixed voltage output applications, as well as in adjustable voltage output applications where a voltage reference is used to establish the output voltage. The maximum output current is 100mA and the dropout voltage is 1.3V at the specified load and input voltage.

The input and output of the device are usually connected through an external 5V DC power supply. The input current is controlled by an internal current sensing circuit, which is designed to limit the average input current to the device. The output voltage is controlled by an internal voltage reference as well as an internal power transistor to adjust the output voltage as needed.
