Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are an important category of capacitors due to their relatively high capacitance values, affordable cost, and relatively small size and weight. They are often used in applications such as power supply filtering, coupling and decoupling, transient protection, pulse shaping and buffering, and so on. The UCY2V221MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a two-pole axial lead miniature type capacitor with a rated voltage of 16V, a rated capacitance of 2200uF, a maximum operating temperature of +105°C.

The UCY2V221MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is composed of a metal case, positive and negative electrodes, electrolyte, and a solid organic film. The case generally uses aluminum plate while the positive and negative electrodes are made of aluminum foils with a special surface treatment. The electrolyte used is usually aluminum oxide, and the organic film is usually a polyester material.

As a double-electrode capacitor, the UCY2V221MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitor has an anode (positive electrode) and a cathode (negative electrode). The anode and cathode are separated by a thin oxide film. This oxide film acts as the dielectric layer of the capacitor and enables electric charges to move through the oxide layer. The oxide film is formed by electrochemical reaction of the anode, electrolyte and cathode, which gives the capacitor its characteristic of large capacitance.

The working principle of the UCY2V221MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on Faraday’s law of electrolysis: When an electric current passes through an electrolyte with two electrodes, a certain amount of material is removed from one and deposited at the other.
