Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are one of the most widely used electronic components in today’s electronics industry. Their multi-functional construction has made them one of the most popular choices for a variety of applications, from power supply filtering and energy storage to high-frequency switching and beyond. One of the most popular aluminum electrolytic capacitors is the UHE1C102MPD, which is a long-life, high ripple current, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), and high capacitance capacitor. The UHE1C102MPD is also extremely tolerant of high temperatures and its robust construction allows it to withstand mechanical shock and vibration. The UHE1C102MPD is designed primarily for use in high-performance, high-frequency switching applications, where its higher ripple current, lower ESR and high capacitance capabilities make it ideal for filtering out noise and other signals from the power supply. The UHE1C102MPD also has many other applications, including capacitor arrays for pulse snubbing, power supply filtering, general power-supply protection, filter networks, and other low-frequency filter applications. It can also be used as a bypass capacitor and a buffer capacitor, as well as a negative-temperature-coefficient (NTC) temperature compensation device. The UHE1C102MPD works by using an anodic oxidation process to create a highly conductive layer of aluminum oxide on its internal electrodes. This layer increases the capacitance of the capacitor and allows ions to pass between the positive and negative terminals. When an electric current is applied across the electrodes, an electrical field is created, and this field causes an electric charge to transfer between the terminals. The voltage and current that is delivered to the capacitor determines the amount of charge that is transferred.The construction of the UHE1C102MPD also features a highly conductive interior that is composed of copper and nickel, as well as a tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) dielectric film. The Ta2O5 dielectric film increases the stability of the current and reduces the equivalent series resistance. The temperature coefficient of the UHE1C102MPD is generally between –100ppm and –30ppm/K and this helps maintain a stable capacitance over a wide temperature range. The UHE1C102MPD also features a roll-down clamping system which improves the mechanical stability of the capacitor and increases its allowable stress. The capacitor also features a four-point zinc plate mounting system which further increases the stability of the device and allows for improved heat dissipation. Overall, the UHE1C102MPD is an excellent choice for a wide range of applications and its high-performance characteristics make it a popular choice for many engineers.
