This allows for storage and release of energy in a controlled manner.Ions in the electrolyte solution are attracted to both of the metal plates due to the electric field applied across the capacitor. This results in a charge buildup on either end of the capacitor. When a voltage is applied to the capacitor’s positive and negative terminals, the current that flows between them draws more ions to the electrode at the same potential, cancelling out the charge on that side. This process creates an electric field that opposes the electric field that initially caused the ions to move, thus limiting the amount of current that can flow through the capacitor.The capacitance of the UKL1C220MDD1TA aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined by the area of the plates, the thickness of the dielectric, and the distance between the plates. The greater the capacitance, the greater the energy that can be stored in the capacitor.
