Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most common type of capacitors used in electronic circuits today. The advantages of using aluminum electrolytic capacitors are their relatively low equivalent series resistance (ESR), large capacitance values, excellent electrical performance and high current carrying capacity. They are widely used in power supplies, audio amplifiers, signal filters, computer circuits and control systems.ULD2D5R6MED is a series of high capacity aluminum electrolytic capacitors designed specifically for power conversion and commercial application fields. They feature high capacitance values with excellent electrical performance. The series has an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C, and a wide range of rated capacitance values up to 220 μF. The capacitors are shock resistant and surge proof, providing reliability over a wide temperature range.

The working principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is based on the principle of double-layer capacitance. The dielectric is an oxide layer formed on the anode of the capacitor. The anode is usually made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The cathode is usually made of aluminum foil, coated with activated carbon particles, and connected to the lead of the capacitor. In this type of capacitor, a formation electrolyte, usually a potassiuom hydroxide solution is used to assist in the formation of the oxide layer.

When a DC voltage is applied to the electrodes of the ULD2D5R6MED aluminum electrolytic capacitor, positive ions of the electrolyte will be attracted to the anode. These positive ions will react with the aluminum and form a thin insulating layer of oxide. This layer of oxide functions as a dielectric and increases the capacitance of the capacitor.
