Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are widely used in different electronic applications. The UMW1C101MDD1TE is a specially designed capacitor for AC applications.
The UMW1C101MDD1TE is a dry element aluminum electrolytic capacitor which is available in five nominal case sizes: 5mm x 11mm, 7mm x 11mm, 8.2mm x 11mm, 9.5mm x 11mm and 11mm x 11mm. The dry element aluminum electrolytic capacitor can be used in many applications such as power supplies, motors, switchgear, emergency lighting, and high voltage AC motor controllers.
The working principle of the UMW1C101MDD1TE is based on the formation of aluminum oxide. When the capacitor is connected to a DC voltage, the current flows through aluminum oxide film which anodic oxidizes at a rate of few microns per year. The oxide film will increases the capacitance of the capacitor. As the voltage increases, the anodic oxide forms a thicker and thicker film in the capacitor, offering higher and higher capacitance.
The UMW1C101MDD1TE is designed for AC use as the anodizing is almost stopped when the current passes through the capacitor. It\'s also designed for high temperature operation, up to 120 °C.
