Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors (AEC) are a type of electrochemical capacitor that presents low effective series resistance (ESR) and high capacitance. These properties are achieved by the use of a porous form of aluminum oxide (an electrolyte) that is created during the anodization of the aluminum sheet.
