Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are components widely used in various electronic circuits to temporarily store electrical charge. A typical aluminum electrolytic capacitor is made up of three parts: the anode, the cathode and the electrolyte, each of which has different characteristics. The anode of an aluminium electrolytic capacitor consists of either an aluminium foil or a sintered pellet. The anode is formed from an aluminium sheet and is treated with an anodizing process to form a porous layer. The anode is then wound with a thin paper which serves both as insulation and as an electrolyte. The cathode is a thin layer of aluminium which is treated to form a conductive surface. The electrolyte is a liquid which provides an electrical pathway between the anode and the cathode.

The UPS1J102MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a radial lead-mount type capacitor featuring a long-life, high-temperature design.
