Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in electrical and electronic equipment and are indispensable electrical components for filter circuits, power transmission and distribution lines and power supplies. UPV1C680MGD is a special type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a rated capacitance of 680uF and a rated working voltage of 50 volts. This capacitor has a special design and features high ripple current capacity, excellent thermal shock resistance, and good temperature coefficients.Its application includes high efficiency dc to dc converters or UPS power systems. When there is a sudden change of load, output voltage of dcd to dcd converters can’t keep up with range, which necessary causes over current. So it’s essential for dc to dc converter to use capacitor with high ripple current capacity, and UPV1C680MGD has these features.Meanwhile, its application includes FPGA board designs such as server boards, SBCs, FPGA boards, or telecommunication applications. Switched-mode power supplies (SMPSs) in these designs requires a high ripple current capacity, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), ultra-resilient construction and good temperature coefficient. UPV1C680MGD provides these features, that’s why the capacitor is widely used in such designs.The working principle of UPV1C680MGD is mainly composed of four processes, namely soaking, conversion, anodization and electrolysis.At the soaking stage, the capacitor\'s aluminum foil is soaked in an electrolyte solution, usually a sulfuric acid solution, and soaked in the solvent for several hours. During this process, the solution penetrates into the pores in the surface of aluminum foil, and the acid in the solution interacts with the surface of aluminum foil to form an aluminum oxide film.Then, during the conversion stage, the capacitor’s aluminum foil is heated to a temperature of about 180 degrees to convert most of the aluminum oxide film into aluminum oxy-acid and aluminum sulfate. In this way, the penetrability and adhesion of aluminum foil can be improved.In the anodization stage, the converted aluminum foil, which is now an aluminum anode, is inserted into an electrolytic solution containing acid ions, and is then subjected to anodization under voltage. During this process, the aluminum anode will dissolve in the electrolyte, and hydrogen bubbles will appear on the cathode to form a protective film on the surface of the aluminum anode, while the inside will become a porous film.Finally, during the electrolysis stage, the semiconductor electrons of the aluminum electrolyte are passed through the external current to the aluminum anode, allowing electrons in the electrolyte to react with the protective layer on the surface of the aluminum anode, thereby producing aluminum ions and hydroxyl ions. These ions penetrate into the film formed inside the aluminum anode to form an electric field. This is the basis for the electric field between the two terminals of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor.Due to its special design and features, UPV1C680MGD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is widely used in many applications, such as FPGA board designs, dc to dc converter or UPS power systems.
