An aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a type of capacitor with a metal oxide film layer typically composed of an aluminum oxide or manganese dioxide dissolved in an electrolyte, depending on the type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor. The metal oxide layer acts as the dielectric medium, and forms the working interface between the two electric contacts - the anode (positive) and the cathode (negative).
