Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electrical devices that use an electrolytic medium made of an aluminum foil. This medium is separated from the electrolyte by a dielectric layer composed of a special plastic film and paper or fabric impregnated with oil, whichever the manufacturer chooses. The electrical energy is stored in the dielectric layer and electric current is passed through the electrolyte to either a positive or negative terminal of the capacitor.
