UV120 ACL is a high-performance optical fiber loss tester designed in accordance to the requirements of advanced Metro projects. It can directly detect and measure the loss of single-strand and multi-strand optical fiber using super-quality multimode or single-mode light source. It is the most cost effective solution for site testing of optical fiber in Metro projects.

Application Field: UV120 ACL is mainly used for optical fiber attenuation measurement of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) transmission systems of Metro network. Furthermore, it can be used for maintenance/troubleshooting of Optical Access Network, Passive Optical Network (PON) and distance fiber-optic transmission systems.

Working Principle: The optical loss is measured by capturing the reflected light from the test fiber. The UV120 ACL uses different wavelength laser light source for single-mode or multi-mode testing. The laser source will continuously transmit light into the test fiber. Some of the light will be reflected from the fibre end and the rest will be scattered in the fibre due to attenuation. The reflected light will be collected by an optical receiver and the signal will be analyzed. The amount of attenuation can then be calculated. This method is repeatable and offers excellent accuracy.
