When an overvoltage occurs, the V120ZS6PX2855 will absorb both positive and negative overvoltage spikes. The integrated Zener diode clamps the voltage across its terminals, providing low clamping voltage that prevents any damage to the protected device. When a surge occurs, the diode begins to current-limiting. The surge current passes through the TVS diode until the excess voltage is reduced to the breakdown voltage of the diode. This protects the protected device from any damage the surge may have caused.
