The V130LA5CP is a state-of-the-art TVS (transit voltage suppressor) in the industry. This type of surge protective device provides a high level of protection against high voltage transients. This device is ideal for protecting electrical systems and components from damaging under- and over-voltage transients.In the electrical industry, Varistors (also known as Voltage-dependent Resistors or VDRs) and MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) are the two most commonly used surging protection technologies. They are used to protect components from overvoltage transients that can cause harm due to high electric fields and current flow.The V130LA5CP is a Varistor product with a peak pulse current rating of 130 Amps, standby voltage rating of 5V, and standby power dissipation of 5W. It is designed to protect circuits against transients and to provide protection to adjacent components. The product also offers ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection from 2KV to 8KV, as rated over a 20% to 80% duty cycle.Varistors work by providing a fast response to a transient pulse by making use of the non-linear continuously changing resistance with the applied voltage. When a voltage spike is applied, the resistance drops to a low value. This rapid low resistance reduces the overvoltage and suppresses the transient before it causes any damage. MOVs work by taking advantage of the non-linearity of the material to provide a voltage-dependent resistance. When an overvoltage or transient occurs, the metal oxide film switches to a low resistance state and allows current to flow, thus, limiting or suppressing the transient.The V130LA5CP is a MOV type Varistor with a T-shaped transfer curve (positive voltage on one side and negative voltage on the other side) that helps to protect against overvoltage across the voltage range. The peak transient pulse current of 130 Amps provides protection from high current transients and surge protection. Moreover, the device features rapid-response capabilities, which allow it to protect against voltage transients.In addition, the V130LA5CP Varistor is able to withstand temperature extremes and offers excellent temperature stability. The device can operate in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 125°C, and has a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 0.08%.Overall, the V130LA5CP Varistor is an ideal choice for applications requiring high pulse surge protection over a wide range of voltages and temperatures. It offers excellent surge protection performance, fast response time, and can operate in extreme temperature conditions.
