Working Principle

V18MLA0402NR operates on the principle of a variable resistance junction or contact. It consists of a metal oxide film connected between two electrodes and the resistance of this junction will increase if the voltage or current applied to the electrodes is changed.

This increased resistance will limit the flow of current and thereby reduce voltage surges. When the voltage or current is returned to normal levels, the resistance of the junction will return to its original value. This reduces the overall circuit current. The protection is then provided by limiting the surge energy.
