The V56ZS8P is a metal oxide varistor/metal oxide varistor (MOV) device with full character. It is suitable for transient and surge over voltage protection, as well as ESD, fast transients, and inrush current protection.

The V56-- a series of potted varistors- has a wide operating temperature range (up to 125-degree Celsius), as well as a voltage rating of 800 Volts. It is also UL and cURus approved and meets all necessary standards in the industry.

Varistors are 3-terminal non-linear devices that have the ability to absorb the excesses of AC or DC voltage and dissipate them across a resistive path. The components have a typical nonlinear V-I characteristics. At voltage values below a certain threshold the varistor will offer almost infinite resistance to current flow.
