V56ZT2PX2855 is a type of transient voltage suppressor (TVS) known as a Varistor, Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) and Surge Suppressors. TVS devices are electronic components which are designed to protect sensitive electronic components such as microprocessors, memory chips and transistors from damage caused by excessive voltage spikes in the power supply line. They are designed to limit voltage transients, such as those caused by lightning strikes or power surges, to a safe level.

V56ZT2PX2855 is characterized by its low capacitance, low clamping voltage and fast response time. It is designed for a wide range of protection applications, including transformer and motor protection, data/communication lines, power supplies, instrumentation and low voltage applications. This particular model also features an electrostatic discharge protection (ESD) that will protect against a voltage spike of up to 15 Volts.

The MOV is primarily comprised of two parts: a metal oxide varistor and a surge suppressor. The surge suppressor part of the MOV is designed to absorb the energy of sudden voltage spikes. The MOAP will absorb the excess energy created by a voltage spike and spread the current throughout the MOV, which in turn reduces the amplitude of the voltage spike.

The V56ZT2PX2855 MOV also has a fast response time, which is important when dealing with voltage transients. The MOV responds in less than one microsecond, which is much faster than common suppressors. This clearance time helps to minimize the chance of damage to sensitive equipment and reduces the risk of fire or personal injury caused by an electrical surge.
