The V660LA10P Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) is often used to protect highly sensitive electronics, particularly in the consumer, automotive and medical industries, from fatal voltage transients. In addition, they have applications for eliminating ringing in data transmission lines, as well as immunity from Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI).

Working Principle:

The V660LA10P TVS is an optimized silicon avalanche diode, designed to provide surge protective solutions for applications exposed to lightning, electrostatic discharge, and other types of overvoltage transients. This device works on the principle of Zener voltage characteristics, wherein, at normal operating conditions, the voltage applied across the MOV is well below the Zener voltage level. However, when an abnormal transient voltage is applied, it exceeds the normal operating voltage levels and the MOV goes into a breakdown voltage state. Once the breakdown voltage is achieved, the MOV starts to act as a short circuit, which in turn absorbs the maximum transient energy by way of conduction.

The V660LA10P Maximum Operating Voltage (MOV) is 6.3V, capable of clamping a 10A peak pulse. It has an excellent breakdown voltage range from 6.2V to 8.0V and an extremely low leakage current of 0.25mA at 25°C. The maximum surge current withstand capability is 10A and surge protection rated 70J.

This device provides excellent EMI and ESD protection as well as excellent clamping efficiency for ±15kV ESD level for Human Body Model. It is capable of handling up to 5500W peak pulse power and can easily clamp the transient voltage. The V660LA10P also has a very low threshold and fast response time with recovery time of less than 1ns.
