The VB20M120C-E3/4W is a high power, low forward voltage, Snubberless(tm) ultrafast rectifier array. This device is designed for use in high frequency DC-DC and AC-DC converter, mains filter and AC motor drive applications. The VB20M120C-E3/4W consists of four fully isolated high-voltage 1.2kV ultrafast 8A rectifiers in a Planar Array package. It has low forward voltage, low reverse leakage current, fast switch-off, low power losses and superb high temperature reliability. The VB20M120C-E3/4W is an excellent choice for a wide range of rectifier applications.
The VB20M120C-E3/4W is intended to convert an alternating current (AC), consisting of a single-phase or three-phase, into direct current (DC). This is achieved by the rectifier, which converts the alternating current into direct current. In the application of AC-DC, the DC power source is used to supply the electronic load. This allows for easy integration of AC components with DC components. In a DC-DC converter, the rectifier converts the fixed DC input into pulsed DC power.
The VB20M120C-E3/4W has two major functions: protection and conduction. At lower currents, it serves as a protective device, allowing current to pass only in the forward direction. At higher currents, it serves as a switch, allowing current to pass both in the forward and reverse directions. The rectifier is usually connected between the positive input line and ground, allowing the current to flow in one direction only.
