TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes are widely used in biomedical, consumer, industrial, automotive and military applications to protect against sudden spikes of voltage and lightning strikes. The VDRS07H250TGE is a particularly versatile TVS diode with an application ability of automotive, military, consumer, industrial, and medical products. It is capable of handling up to 250 watts of transient energy and has a breakdown voltage rating of 7V. The working principle of the VDRS07H250TGE is that when a voltage surge enters the device, the internal electric field strength increases to a point where the diode will begin to conduct electrical current. As the surge passes, the electric field strength decreases and the device returns to an off-state condition. A varistor, also known as Voltage Dependent Resistor (VDR) is an electronic component designed to protect circuits against voltage surges. Varistors use the phenomenon of non-linear voltage current (V-I) properties of certain metallic compounds such as zinc oxide, to reduce the effects of transient overvoltage. The VDRS07H250TGE is a multi-layered varistor made of zinc oxide, along with other metallic compound layers. This device can absorb or dissipate energy for the purpose of protecting the circuitry against sudden voltage changes.
