Working Principle

VN800PSTR-E power management architecture features both switching power distribution (SPD) and load drivers (LDD), encompassing up to eight SPDs and four LDDs – all controlled by a single Digital Control System. Each SPD is designed to provide independent power sequencing and latched shutdown. The four LDD outputs can be used to drive and power external off-chip loads such as FETs and LED drivers and they feature a wide variety of demodulation modes and output voltage range.

The VN800PSTR-E also features an Onboard Clock Generator (CG) that can generate up to 2GHz clock frequency. It also has a wide range of pre-programmed clock sources, such as internal/external crystal and internal/external oscillator, allowing flexible clock programming. The CG also supports various on-board test functions such as frequency measurements and voltage measurements.

In addition to its power management features, VN800PSTR-E also offers OverPower Protection (OPP), which prevents system-level scalability by monitoring power consumption levels and proactively triggering system shutdown when levels exceed pre-programmed thresholds.
