VND830ASPTR-E is a multi-channel high-side power switch, a 3-channel high-side load driver, and combination of both. Working Principle
Power distribution switch, VND830ASPTR-E, is designed to work in a voltage range from 5V to 40V, and can switch loads up to 10A. It uses a precise resistor divider circuit (RD) to ensure the voltage across the load is compliant with accuracy. The RD circuit uses a combination of two resistor to act as a scaled version of the output voltage. Then, the divided voltage is transferred to the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The ADC would convert the analog input to a digital output in order for it to be compared with the reference voltage. This reference voltage is used to regulate the load current by either opening or closing the switch.
The load driver, VND830ASPTR-E is able to provide high power up to 20A per channel. It is designed to work with both open and close loop regulation by adjusting the output voltage and the current feedback respectively. It works on the similar concept to that of the power distribution switch. It relies on the RD circuit, which is scaled to a refererential voltage, ADC and a reference voltage. When a certain input voltage is supplied, the ADC will convert it to a digital output and compare to the pre-defined reference voltage. The reference voltage is then adjusted up or down as appropriate to either open or close the switch accordingly.
Both the power distribution switch and load driver for VND830ASPTR-E utilizes the same basic principle in order to regulate the load current and voltage. This makes VND830ASPTR-E a very efficient solution for a wide range of applications.
