PMIC - Supervisors such as the X5165P serve many important purposes that keep the system running efficiently by preventing undesired output behavior. Most supervisors contain a supervisory circuit, a factory-configured reset circuit and a supply voltage monitor. The X5165P, manufactured by STMicroelectronics, is a system supervisor and power-on reset generator specifically designed for power-supply monitoring and system reset protection functions.

The supervisor monitors the system’s power supply and provides a reset signal if the system fails to meet user-defined reset thresholds. In addition, the X5165P provides an adjustable supply voltage monitor with power-on reset (POR), power-fail warning (PFW) and brown-out reset (BOR) features. The adjustable features allow users to set the desired voltage monitored, the reset threshold and 5 reset output types to suit specific needs. Finally, the X5165P contains a PFW circuit. This circuit monitors the power supply input voltage and sends out a warning signal if the input voltage is outside the preset threshold. The warning signal is used to alert the user that the power supply is not functioning properly. This allows the user to take corrective action before the power supply fails completely and results in a system crash.

The X5165P is a powerful system supervisor and power-on reset generator designed for a wide range of applications. Its combination of adjustable settings, POR, PFW and BOR features make it well suited to use in industrial systems, consumer electronics and other applications.
