A PMIC - Supervisors is a semiconductor component which provides supply management and simple logic control functions. X5165PI-2.7 is a feature rich PMIC - Supervisors that leverages the higher integration capabilities of PMICs to provide a wide range of additional functions. It is a highly integrated, low power 8-bit voltage monitoring and supervisory IC, offers users an easy-to-adopt voltage monitor, reset and fail-safe solution.

X5165PI-2.7 is designed for voltage monitoring and supervisory applications with a low component count and a wide input operating range from 1.8V~5.5V. It integrates several features to protect against sudden voltage drop, overshoot, and undershoot. Fail-safe protection is provided by an internal watchdog timer, independent of the local oscillator. If a system fault causes the monitored voltage to cycle between operating and reset levels, the watchdog timer will time out, generating a reset pulse. It provides POR and RST outputs, which supports a variety of power-up sequencing and reset conditions.

Thanks to its features, X5165PI-2.7 is ideal for battery-powered, low voltage portable consumer electronics applications with a wide range of operating voltage, such as mobile phones and mp3 players. X5165PI-2.7 can also be used for fixed-voltage systems that require a stable operating voltage and a reset circuit for maintenance or fault conditions, applications include power supply and charger, TV and radio receivers, camera and flash memory cards, DVD players, and discriminators.

The X5165PI-2.7 supervisory circuit consists of a voltage monitor, a watchdog timer and reset control (reset and POR). The voltage monitor is a low power, single supply comparator-based circuit, and it has independent high trip (VTH) and low trip (VTL). When the voltage is higher than VTH or lower than VTL, the RESET is pulled low while the POR is pulled high. This gives the user a stable and reliable power supervision system to protect their system.

The X5165PI-2.7 also includes a watchdog timer, which is an important feature for fault tolerant systems. It is widely used in industrial and automotive applications to detect short or long term power failure or system occurrence. The watchdog timer will reset the system in response to detecting an unexpected condition. The X5165PI-2.7 can be set to timeout from 1ms to 1 second and will guarantee a response within the typical 10μs.

The X5165PI-2.7 has an adjustable reset threshold, reset time-out and watchdog function with an open drain output for simple reset logic control. It is extremely versatile with a low active circuit current of 0.2μA and a wide operating temperature range. Its built-in reset and POR signals are synchronized in the power-on and power-off sequences. With its low standby current, wide range of functioning, and fail-safe protection, the X5165PI-2.7 offers designers a reliable, low power and cost-effective solution fit for multiple applications.
