RF Directional CouplerRF directional couplers are very useful components when it comes to providing the ability to measure the amount of power that is being transmitted in a certain direction and/or separate components according to their frequency. The XC0900P-10S is a RF directional coupler for power measurements in the frequency range of 20MHz to 10GHz with a directivity of ≥30dB. It is composed of an an RF Tap component, which is integrated into the directional coupler so as to measure the signal power. The XC0900P-10S works based on a three-port network structure. It enables one direction of signal analysis for measurements in the range of 20MHz to 10GHz with a directivity of 30dB. The RF Input port of the device is where the input signal is applied. The RF Out port acts as an output port which provides the combined output of the signal that is being outputted from the applied signal and the signal that is tapped off. The RF Tap port is the signal processing port of the XC0900P-10S. A small fraction of the signal applied at the input port is routed to the RF Tap port, where the signal is measured and processed. The processed signal is then sent to the integrated secondary sub-assembly, where it is combined and outputted at the RF Out port. In an application field as RF engineering, the XC0900P-10S is used for the measurement of RF power. When the applied signal is routed through the RF Tap port, it undergoes a process of directional coupling and an additive phase shift. As a result of this process the signal is split into two different components – the forward component and the backward component – making it easier to measure the power of the applied signal.
