The device includes an embedded configuration controller, configurable logic, a high-speed local bus network, memory, and peripheral functions. Developed to meet the needs of embedded systems, the programmable logic architecture of XC4010E-3HQ208I provides immediate, configurable system flexibility and design optimization not available in fixed circuit architectures.XC4010E-3HQ208I is ideal for a wide range of applications requiring high-performance, integrated FPGA-based solutions. Examples include handheld consumer devices, communications and networking, medical imaging, and high-end embedded computing. This extended range of applications can benefit from the faster data processing, improved power efficiency, and faster configurability of the XC4010E-3HQ208I.The working principles of the XC4010E-3HQ208I are largely based on the circuit configuration table, or CCT. CCT stores how the logic devices on the device are interconnected – it configures the logic elements, control signal values and circuit paths. Each logic element and signal pair can have multiple configurations. This means the designer can go back and customize the device to adapt to varying types of applications and architectures.In addition to the CCT, the device also has a number of other features that help improve system performance and enhance flexibility. Included among these features are the wide configuration memory, high-speed configuration interface and the ability to support simultaneous configuring and operating modes. The wide configuration memory makes it possible to store multiple configurations simultaneously, making it easy to switch between different configurations quickly and efficiently. The high-speed configuration interface allows users to access the configuration memory to program and reprogram the device during system operation. This provides the option to modify the functionality and logic of the embedded FPGA “on the fly”. The XC4010E-3HQ208I also supports the simultaneous configuring and operating modes so that it can be reconfigured while running. This allows users to optimize their system configurations without having to power down and reboot their devices.
