Xilinx’s XC7Z010-3CLG225E device is a System On Chip (SoC) solution for embedded applications. This particular device combines the power of a processor core, FPGA logic and various peripheral components, allowing for various features and applications. Unlike prior generations of Xilinx SoC offerings, the XC7Z010-3CLG225E is especially targeted towards low-power embedded applications. It is ideally suited for applications that require efficient computing, enhanced I/O capabilities, and optimized power consumption. The XC7Z010-3CLG225E device is based on the Zynq SoC. It integrates a Dual-ARM Cortex A9-based processor with the FPGA fabric. It also includes an integrated high-bandwidth, on-chip memory system which is comprised of 512-Kbyte of dedicated level 2 cache, multiple memory controllers that are able to be configured as DDR2/3, low-power DDR2/3, QDRII+, and RLDRAM II memory controllers, as well as a 32-Kbyte isolated instruction and data cache. The external memory interface supports up to 16 Gbytes of SDR or DDR3 SDRAM with ECC protection.The device serves as the center hub for multimedia, communication, and control applications. The FPGA fabric, combined with the processor core, provides a powerful platform for the development of embedded applications. The FPGA fabric provides a high-speed interface to the external memories, as well as to other I/O peripherals, such as Ethernet, CAN, USB, and peripherals for communication protocols such as Ethernet, CAN, and SATA. The programmable interfaces can also be configured to support high-speed serial bus solutions like PCIe and SATA. The device also features up to 37 Gbps transceivers and two high-speed MGTs (Multigigabit Transceivers) with up to 10.3 Gbps serial data rate.The dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor running at operating frequency of up to 800MHz, provides high-performance solutions for embedded applications. It enables the integration of several components into a single integrated platform. Using the ARM Cortex-A9 processor, the device can also support power conservation with adjustable clocks, sleep and/or wake modes. The device is also equipped with several advanced system peripherals, such as a timer peripheral, QoS IP module, common system I/O (e.g. PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SATA, JTAG), Level Sensitive Scan Design (LSSD) controller, and up to 47 general-purpose I/O pins which can be configured for various I/O interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, and a wide range of analog functions. The Xilinx XC7Z010-3CLG225E provides a key feature set for embedded applications, allowing for a variety of applications in a variety of markets. It is designed for applications in the defense, aerospace, automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical markets, where low power consumption and high performance are desired.
