Xilinx\'s XC7Z020-2CLG400E is an System On Chip (SoC) device with superb features and high performance for embedded systems. This SoC device is specifically designed for RF applications such as cellular phones, but is also suitable for use in a wide range of industrial products such as routers, switching products, digital audio players, and more.The XC7Z020-2CLG400E is equipped with both a high-performance embedded processor, as well as FPGA fabric. It combines the performance, size and power savings of a single SoC with the flexibility of a FPGA, allowing it to be readily adapted to meet specific application requirements.The XC7Z020-2CLG400E contains both a hard-core processor and FPGA fabric. The processor core is the industry standard ARM Cortex-A9 processor with dual-issue capabilities and specialized instruction set accelerators (up to 4MB of cache). The FPGA fabric contains 800K logic cells, 1136 DSP blocks, 256/128Mbyte of DDR3 RAM, clocking I/O blocks and support for JTAG/SPI Flash memory (64/128Gbyte). The combination of the Cortex A9 processor and FPGA fabric allow the device to rapidly process complex data or execute a wide range of tasks from simple control functions to high-performance embedded applications.The XC7Z020-2CLG400E offers a number of features designed to improve system performance, power reduction and system reliability. The device features a low-power standby mode of operation that reduces active power consumption when data processing is not required.To boost throughput, the device includes an optimized memory architecture and efficient memory controllers (including DDR3, NAND Flash and SRAM).Also included are thermo-resistant IOs, ESD/EMI/noise protection, integrated I2C/SPI/UART, transceiver support, power management and voltage scaling, FPGA fabric configuration ports and system management bus.The XC7Z020-2CLG400E provides many design advantages over conventional processor-only solutions. The combination of a high-performance processor with the flexibility and customizability of an FPGA fabric allow for greater performance, reduced power consumption and improved system reliability.
