Working Principle

The XR2211ACP-F implements a feedback loop based on the phase locked loop (PLL) concept. The chip contains a loop filter, a phase detector, and a wide-ranging voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). Once the phase difference becomes close to zero, the phase detector will become insensitive to small changes in phase and the VCO will remain at its set frequency. As the VCO frequency is now constant and locked to the reference, the output of the XR2211ACP-F can be used as an accurate reference frequency.
