Working principle

XR76208ELTR-F DC-DC switching regulator adopts a buck or buck-boost topology. The integrated circuit is designed to drive two N-channel MOSFETs from a single +VIN supply. The two MOSFETs are connected in an H-bridge configuration for increased efficiency.

The MOSFETs are driven using a floating driver that is supplied with a regulated voltage rail. This rail can be supplied from the IC’s VIN rail or optionally by an external supply. An internal fixed frequency oscillator is used to generate the switching frequency of the MOSFETs. The frequency is adjustable over a wide range, from 300kHz to 4.5MHz, by a single resistor.

The output voltage is regulated by a feedback loop that compares the output of the regulator with a programmable reference voltage. The output can be successfully regulated with input voltages up to 48V, providing excellent stability and dynamic performance, as well as short-circuit protection, for use in wide range of applications.
